Registration Form

Welcome!
2004 marks the 2nd Annual EBL Free Training. In 2003, EBL decided to offer a completely free training to those organizations and individuals who may not have had an opportunity otherwise. As we start the new year, we need to begin plans for the 2004 training.

Who can apply?
Anyone who works in the adventure industry with high and low ropes courses with 5 years or less experience. The training is designed to help newer professionals expand their undersatnding of what a ropes course can offer, see new elements, and get new program ideas.

How did it work?
Simple. We let our viewers vote on the location, duration, and content. We set dates and then take application from those who wish to attend. There is no charge for the training, outside of food and lodging, which typically will be between $125 - $200. So, you get there and the rest is on EBL!

Why Does EBL offer such a training?
Again, simple. EBL wishes to provide opportunities to others so they may continue their professional development in the industry. We believe so highly in the process and learning opportunities that experiential learning can provide participants, that we want to help those get a start or stay in the field.

What can I do to help?
Read through the list of sites offering their services. Then, vote on a location, the length, and content we should focus on during the training. Donations will be accepted with 100% being applied to help pay for meals and lodging of those attending. EBL will not take a dime for our services. PERIOD.

Venue Location
This years host site is New Life Ranch , Colcord, OK

Content: Ropes Course Facilitation - Models

Duration: 3 days

How do I apply?
Send us a letter of intent with a description of how the training will benefit your program back home, a couple references, and fax or mail it to our office.

How many applied last year?
In 2003, EBL received 24 applications and was able to train 18 persons. In 2004, we are looking to provide training for between 16-18 persons again.

Comments and E-mail posts from 2002
Hello All- - December 15, 2002 @ 3:15 PM CST
Okay, I have already collected about a dozen votes AND I am throwing away 4 because they picked multiple locations or content. Clearly we can not be in two or more places at once nor can we offer multiple agendas. So, choose 1 item from each area or please do not cast a vote. Thank you for your understanding.....And also, I have received some multiple votes so I will be adding an e-mail field which you must fill in or your vote won't count. This way you get 1 vote per e-mail. Sorry, for having to add more hoops...but, this will keep things fair and avoid multiple voting, either by accident or other. Thanks, Steve

Hello All- - December 15, 2002
Okay, it is looking like this FREE Training is working out. To date I have about 8 informal requests to attend and 9 locations that want to host this event. Now, here is where I need your help. I have received offeres from ALL OVER THE PLACE. So, I would like to list the locations and let you, the viewers, choose where we should go to conduct this training. Please pick only one location and hit the submit button. I will then leave the voting open until Dec. 20, 2002 (5 days). The location that gets the most votes wins! Now, I am only going to provide possible host venues that are offering us great deals. Please in your own way help me thank each and every location that has offered to help. I feel poorly that we can only do this once. (HINT - You can see that I am already looking ahead for 2004!)

Here is a link to a basic Registration Form. Please note that this form should be printed AND included with your resume, statement of how you will apply what you learned, supervisor letter of support, and any other documentation you wish to submit showing your need. Fax or snail mail only...PLEASE!! I want hard copies so I don't loose anything ;-)

Applications:
Applications will be accepted via snail mail or fax only, in the first person. Persons interested in applying for the FREE Training should meet the below criteria.

  • Be a college graduate and new professional with 5 or less years of work experience
  • A cover letter seeking application consideration
  • Current resume
  • 3 references
  • Draft outline of how FREE Training content will be utilized
  • Any other supporting documentation pertinent to the application process

* Please note, the selection process will be subjective, based on application quality and applicant needs.
